Heart for Coats: Celebrating Community Pride

The Town of Coats is always looking for new ways to connect with residents and strengthen the sense of pride that makes our community special. As part of that effort, the Town is excited to introduce Heart for Coats, a new initiative designed to recognize small but meaningful acts that help make Coats a better place for everyone.

The first recipients of the Heart for Coats certificate are Amily Sommers and Lauren Turner, employees of Rabbit Ridge Nursery. This fall, Ms. Sommers and Ms. Turner volunteered several days of their time to refresh and redesign the Little Free Library on E. Main Street near Town Hall. Their work included applying a fresh base coat and hand-painting detailed artwork featuring native and endangered North Carolina plants and animals, transforming the beloved book-sharing box near Coats Public Library into a true piece of community art.

Their creativity, generosity, and care exemplify the spirit behind Heart for Coats, recognizing those quiet contributions that often happen behind the scenes but have a lasting impact on our town.

The Town of Coats looks forward to continuing this tradition and shining a light on residents, businesses, and community members who go above and beyond to support Coats. If you know of or see someone in the community who deserves the Heart for Coats recognition, we encourage you to let us know. Together, we can celebrate the people who make Coats a place we’re proud to call home."
