Garbage & Recycling

The Town of Coats provides weekly curbside garbage collection for all residential solid waste customers. Recycling services may be provided depending on your household service plan.

Garbage Collection Guidelines

  • All garbage must be placed inside a regulation roll-out container.

  • Containers should be placed at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on your scheduled pickup day.

  • Garbage includes all putrescible waste (animal and vegetable matter, food scraps, small household waste, etc.), but does not include yard waste, bulk household items, construction debris, or hazardous materials. (Find more information on this on their designated tabs).
  • Containers must be closed securely to prevent littering and animal access.

Recycling Collection

  • Recycling services are available for residential customers. Please place recyclable materials in the designated container provided by the Town or its contracted hauler. Reference the image at bottom of the page for more detailed explanation on what can and cannot be recycled.

  • Accepted recyclables typically include:

    • Paper and cardboard
    • Plastic bottles and jugs (#1 and #2)
    • Aluminum and steel cans
    • Glass bottles and jars
  • Not accepted in recycling bins: plastic bags, Styrofoam, food waste, yard waste, clothing, or electronics.

Important Notes

  • Household garbage, bulk waste, and yard waste must all be prepared separately for pickup. Mixed piles will not be collected.
  • Items placed outside of regulation containers (loose bags, boxes, etc.) may not be picked up.
  • Recycling must be free of food, liquids, and contamination.

For questions about garbage or recycling collection, please contact the Public Works Department.
